Object location within the linked list is performed in the same way as in modifiers methods so that the selector method returns the desired information. For performance reasons, in the case of matrices, the selector methods return pointer arrays. In this case, the state of the object providing the information is set to READ_LOCK, so it’s protected against modification, once its information is accessed from outside of the object.
